About EduDish

EduDish is a study desk: twenty small tools for the arithmetic that surrounds school and university life, built to be opened, used and closed in under a minute.

The desk exists because of a recurring scene. A student knows their grades but not their GPA. Another knows their GPA but not what the final exam can still change. A third has written a good essay whose bibliography is formatted in two styles at once and a word count that neither matches the limit nor any counter they have tried. None of these problems needs an account, an app or a subscription. Each needs one honest calculation — and preferably one that shows its working, so the student can defend the answer if a teacher asks how they got it.

What is here

Five shelves hold the twenty tools. Grades & GPA covers semester and cumulative averages, weighted course grades and the final-exam target calculation. Converters translate between percentages, letters and grade points, and handle scientific notation and Roman numerals. Writing & Essays counts words, estimates reading time, builds APA and MLA references and turns a thesis into an outline. Focus & Time runs the pomodoro timer, the flashcards deck, a typing test and the calendar arithmetic of ages and school days. Maths Helpers does fractions, percentages, quadratics and descriptive statistics — with the method visible, every time.

How the tools are made

Each tool is a single static page with hand-written JavaScript. There is no database of users, no server doing sums, and no third-party script watching. Your figures are calculated on the device in your hand and are gone when the tab closes; the only thing this site stores, anywhere, is your light-or-dark theme preference in your own browser. The methods follow the conventions taught in school: the standard 4.0 scale with its table printed on the homepage, APA 7 and MLA 9 reference formats, exact integer arithmetic for fractions.

What this desk is not

It is not a tutoring service, a course, or a substitute for your teachers, and it does not write essays — the outline builder structures your argument, the citation generator formats your sources, but the thinking and the words remain the student's, because that is the part that is actually being educated. It is also not an authority: where a school's own grading table or a registrar's rule disagrees with a figure here, the school wins, and several pages say so in those words.

Why it is free

The tools cost little to run because they are static files, and they are free because their job is to be reached for at midnight before a deadline, when nobody should be meeting a paywall. If advertising ever appears here, it will be disclosed in the privacy policy and kept out of the tools' way — and since no tool makes any request of its own, no tool will ever depend on it.

Questions, corrections and tool requests are welcome on the contact page. If a calculator gives you a figure you believe is wrong, send the inputs along — with them, the problem can usually be found in minutes.
