GPA Calculator
Work out a semester GPA from course grades and credit hours. Everything happens on this page, in your browser — nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
Rows are your courses. The grade points follow the standard scale shown on this page: A = 4.0, B = 3.0, and so on, with + and − steps of 0.3 (A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3).
How this tool works
A grade point average is a weighted mean: every course contributes its grade points multiplied by its credit hours, and the total is divided by the total credits. A one-credit A cannot rescue a five-credit C, and this page exists so you can see that arithmetic before the transcript does.
Using it, step by step
- Read each course's final letter grade off your results page or mark book.
- Enter the grade and the course's credit hours — half-credit and single-credit courses count proportionally less, exactly as they should.
- If your school weights advanced courses, pick the level in the dropdown; the bonus applies to every non-F row.
- Read the GPA and the grade-point total underneath it — that total is what the cumulative calculator needs if you want to project forward.
Where it stops
This page uses the standard 4.0 scale with 0.3 steps for plus and minus grades. Some schools award 4.3 for an A+, some cap everything at 4.0, and some use straight letters with no plus/minus at all. If your school's table differs, the shape of the calculation is identical — only the points per letter change.
