Final Exam Calculator
See exactly what score you need on the final to hit your target. Everything happens on this page, in your browser — nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
The maths: your target minus the part of the grade already locked in, divided by the exam's weight. If the answer comes out above 100, the tool says so plainly rather than dressing it up.
How this tool works
Almost every student has done this sum on a scrap of paper in the last week of term: what do I need on the final? It is one line of algebra — target grade equals current grade times the non-exam weight, plus exam score times the exam weight — solved for the exam score.
Using it, step by step
- Enter the grade you hold right now, before the final, as a percentage.
- Enter the course grade you are aiming for — be honest about whether that is a hope or a requirement (a scholarship line, a prerequisite threshold).
- Enter the final's weight from the syllabus, not from rumour.
- Read the needed score and the verdict underneath it: secured, achievable, demanding, or out of reach.
Where it stops
The calculation assumes the exam is the only thing left and that nothing is curved, dropped or re-weighted afterwards. If other assignments remain, fold them into your 'current grade' first with the grade calculator. And a needed score of exactly 100 leaves no room for a bad morning — aim a little higher in your preparation than the number on the screen.
