Essay Outline Builder

Turn a thesis and main points into a structured essay outline. Everything happens on this page, in your browser — nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How this tool works

An outline is a promise you make to your future self: these are the points, in this order, and each one will earn its place. Essays written from an outline rarely wander, because the wandering happened cheaply here, in phrases instead of paragraphs.

Using it, step by step

  1. Write the topic and a thesis that takes a position — 'this essay discusses sleep' is a topic, not a thesis.
  2. List your main points, one per line, strongest last is a reliable default order.
  3. Generate the outline and, for each body section, replace the evidence prompt with the actual quotation or data you will use.
  4. Draft from the outline top to bottom; if a section will not write, the problem is the outline, and it is still cheap to fix.

Where it stops

The builder supplies structure and standard moves (hook, context, evidence, analysis, link); it cannot supply your argument or your evidence. If a point has no evidence in your notes, the honest fix is research or a different point — not a longer outline.
