Cumulative GPA Calculator
Blend past terms with the new one to see your running GPA. Everything happens on this page, in your browser — nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
A cumulative GPA is a weighted average where the weights are credits. That is why one brilliant term lifts a first-year record dramatically and a final-year record only slightly: by then, most of the weight is already history.
How this tool works
Your cumulative GPA is not the average of your term GPAs unless every term carried the same credits. It is all your grade points from all your terms pooled together, which is why this calculator asks for credits alongside each GPA: the credits are the weights that make the blend honest.
Using it, step by step
- Find your current cumulative GPA and total completed credits — both are printed on most transcripts and student portals.
- Work out the new term's GPA, with the semester GPA calculator if you need to.
- Enter both pairs of numbers and read the combined figure.
- To plan ahead, try a few 'what if' term GPAs: the gap between them shows how much one term can still move your record.
Where it stops
Transfer credits usually arrive as pass/fail and stay out of the GPA pool at the new school, and repeated courses are handled by policies that range from 'latest grade counts' to 'both count'. This page does the plain pooling maths; your registrar's rules decide what enters the pool.
