Letter Grade Converter
Move between letter grades, percentages and grade points. Everything happens on this page, in your browser — nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
Schools set their own cut-offs; a common one puts A at 93 and above, but plenty use 90. This converter follows the 93-based scale and says so, rather than pretending one table rules everywhere.
How this tool works
Letter grades are a compression: they squeeze a range of percentages into a single symbol so transcripts stay readable. Converting back is therefore always a range, not a point — this page gives you both directions with the bands printed openly.
Using it, step by step
- Use the top box to turn a percentage into its letter and grade points.
- Use the lower box to see what percentage range and point value a letter on your report card stands for.
- Compare the bands with your own school's handbook if a borderline case matters — a single percentage point at a band edge changes the letter.
Where it stops
Plus and minus grades do not exist everywhere: some schools issue straight A–F only, in which case the percentage bands widen. This converter shows the full plus/minus scale; ignore the subdivisions your school does not use.
